At one time Chickering was the largest piano company in the United States. In fact there have been several Chickering pianos in the White House. So what makes Chickering pianos so special Chickering was one of the great innovators in the development of the piano and was one of the few American piano companies that survived after WWII. In fact Chickering was still producing pianos in the United States in the 1980's.

Many people are seduced by the lush sound of Chickering pianos. There are many design elements that contribute to this including the wide tail which allows for a larger soundboard area than in other pianos.
