"Battle of the BONES"
Near the end of Olds extraordinary existence they produced a very "contemporary" jazz tenor called the "P-16 Custom Crafted" tenor trombone. While late to the game by 20 years, this trombone was a singe bore .500 with a 7 3/4 inch diameter bell, 7 oz light weight slide. Designed to compete in the jazz tenor market with the Conn 6H, King 3B, Bach 12 and Martin TR4501 Urbie Green model. Also in the game but pretty much ignored for it's magnificence was the Holton TR501 Special, also a .500 bore, 8" bell Jazz tenor.
In this video I play both the Olds P-16 and Conn 6H and compare them with minimal detail & talent (ha ha). I hope you enjoy this video.
