Yes, Friedman amps really are that good

The time came to add another amp to my collection, so here is my take on why the Friedman Pink Taco ticks every box for me...
For the past 5 years I've used solely a Victory V40, and whilst it's a brilliant amp in many ways, it was about time to experience something new. I used to play amps with more gain on tap (Marshall JCM2000 DSL 40), and this is something I felt like would suit the music I'm playing more today, and potentially simplify my pedalboard (by having less gain stages on the board).
Friedman have been on the radar as a lover of EL84, Marshall style amps, as has the Marshall Studio series (the Studio Classic is BRILLIANT), and numerous other models from Suhr, Soldano and Victory. But I had the chance to try out the JJ Junior and the Pink Taco at @codamusicstevenage7838 recently, and the latter blew me away.
It's a simple, single channel amp that has way more versatility than you might initially think, largely thanks to the S switch that enables you to switch between different clipping options. It's light, but slightly larger than your standard 'lunchbox' head, and has all the features I would need (fx loop, multiple speaker outputs) and no more. This is what I love about compact heads, the fact that I will make use of every feature and never feel like I'm lacking something.
It sounds like a monster at all volumes, and this is down to the incredible master volume control. It really does seem like Friedman have nailed this as good as anyone, as you really can turn this right down to bedroom volumes and still retain brilliant tone.
But the best thing of all is how dynamically responsive it is. There's no other amp I've played that can sound like a hotrodded, EVH style modded-Marshall when you attack it hard, but when you back off the volume on the guitar and play like John Mayer (I wish), it cleans up beautifully. There's no need for multiple channels if the amp responds in this way.
So the Pink Taco doesn't replace the V40, it simply adds to my tonal palette. And I for one couldn't be happier.
(FYI the demonstration of the different clipping options in the middle of this video is purely the sound of the amp - no pedals, effects or processing)
