Social Justice and Advocacy Across the Counseling Landscape

Описание: In the face of the growing social unrest and ongoing challenges to equity, access and inclusion, the role of counselors as advocates is at its most critical. The roots of the counseling profession call counselors to acknowledge external barriers in clients, community, and students' lives. Moreover, we are called not only to support individuals but also to dismantle the systemic barriers. This program will explore the intersections of social justice, advocacy, and counseling practice. Our panelist will explore what it means to champion social justice across various domains of counseling including clinical practice, counselor education, and legislative action. Amidst a political climate tha increasingly threatens the rights of marginalized communities, this session sets to empower counselors with actionable strategies to build meaningful community collaborations, drive systematic change, and uphold ethical commitments to advocacy in the counseling profession.
