The 1992 animated X-Men series became one of the most popular Sunday morning shows in its prime. For those of you who remember it with fondness, I am sure that once you grew up, you somehow got the feeling that not a lot of what was portrayed in the show was really targeted towards kids. Granted, most of us were not mature enough to understand it beyond the surface level back then, but after having rewatched the series as an adult, I liked the powerful metaphors the showrunners had used back then to explore real-world discrimination and ideological clashes. Neither side was portrayed as inherently evil, and the central message was quite clear- prejudice and power are often the only causes for moral and social corruption. I think this is one of the most socially conscious shows ever created, and today, I want to point out a few things that will prove exactly why I feel this way.
