A group of student protesters blocked the entrance to the Louvre Museum in Paris on Monday, preventing the museum from opening to the public at its scheduled time of 9 a.m. (0700 GMT).

Protesters gathered behind metallic barriers at the museum entrance, playing music, singing and chanting slogans in support of the high school student movement.

The demonstrators also denounced what they described as ''police repression'.

Visitors waited behind barriers as protesters blocked access to the museum, one of Paris' most prominent cultural attractions.

The demonstration comes amid student mobilization in France, with protesters expressing support for high school students and raising concerns over police actions.
