Sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Muncie and Delaware County, this Zoom panel presentation was a community collaboration between Ball State University Libraries, Delaware County Historical Society, Minnetrista, and the Muncie Public Library that occurred on March 31, 2021. The panel presentation celebrated the history of the women’s suffrage movement in Muncie and Delaware County. This presentation featured stories about Muncie women (and men) who battled for the ballot. The presentation featured historic photographs and maps from local archives to share stories about individual suffragists and “suffrage spots” around Muncie.
Panelists included, Sarah Allison, Head of Archives User Engagement at Ball State University Libraries, Archives and Special Collections; Melissa Gentry, Supervisor, GIS Research and Map Collection at Ball State University Libraries and one of the founders of the Notable Women of Muncie and Delaware County Committee; Jessica Jenkins, Vice President of Collections and Storytelling, Minnetrista and one of the founders of the Notable Women of Muncie and Delaware County Committee; Sara McKinley, Local History & Genealogy Supervisor of Muncie Public Library and manager of the Carnegie Library; Karen Vincent, Delaware County Historian and Delaware County Historical Society President, and one of the founders of the Notable Women of Muncie and Delaware County Committee.
This collection provides access to many presentations facilitated by Ball State University Libraries Archives & Special Collections. These presentations highlight local and campus history along with collections from campus and community archives. Some of the presentations include community partners, such as the Delaware County Historical Society, Minnetrista, and the Muncie Public Library.
