Six Calvas: Drouin Hampden Angels, Toutain 10, Coquerel 24, Breuil 15, Merval 2002, Du Tertre 2004

Описание: I got all the views I needed last week so screw it, today let's tank the metrics and enjoy some less hyped but still awesome cider brandy from Normandy. No particular theme, we're going to mix pot and column distillation, finishes and straight aging and just clean out my backlog. Here we go:

Drouin Hampden Angels (14 Year Old Pays d'Auge calvados finished 8 months in ex-Hampden barrels; 1296 bottles, bottled circa 2022; 44% ABV), 85-/100
Toutain 10 Year Old Calvados, Single Cask No. 3 Finished in Pineau des Charentes (bottled circa 2021; 44.9% ABV), 86/100
Coquerel Grand Calvados, 24 Year Old Single Cask (distilled 1996, bottled 11/2020; 270 bottles; 46.2% ABV), 88+/100
Chateau du Breuil 15 Year Old Pays d’Auge Calvados, Cask No. 14001 (pot-distilled, bottled circa 2021; 48.6% ABV), 86/100
Domaine De Merval 18 Year Old 2002, Single Barrel No. 103 for K&L Wine (bottled circa 2021; 51.0% ABV), 86/100
Domaine Du Tertre 2004 16 Year Old Calvados, Selected By Seelbach’s and PM Spirits (bottled circa 2021, 55% ABV), 87/100

So rather annoyingly, all of these are very good indeed, and they get there with very different styles. I suppose the big takeaway is... look for Calvados that's presented well? At higher strengths and in smaller batches? Or something?
