It's about putting on a front and covering the truth about self neglect and abuse but struggling to do so. Even though you can be surrounded by the right people trying to help you onto the right path, it can be hard to make sense of things when your judgement is clouded by your own selfish stubbornness and greed. We can be our own worst enemies at time... Sleeping with the enemy.
