Odisha Vigilance today caught two officials of the Odisha Lift Irrigation Corporation (OLIC), Udala Sub-Division, Mayurbhanj district, while allegedly accepting a bribe from a contractor.

The accused officials are Shri Harekrushna Singh, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), and Shri Subrat Mohanty, Junior Engineer (JE) (posted at Baripada and in charge of Udala JE). They were apprehended while taking ₹60,000 as part of a demanded bribe—₹32,000 for the AEE and ₹28,000 for the JE—for releasing pending bills.

According to Vigilance sources, the contractor had completed work worth around ₹25 lakh, but the officials allegedly withheld bills and security deposits amounting to about ₹5 lakh. For clearing the dues, they reportedly demanded a bribe of ₹1.10 lakh at the rate of 4.5% (1.5% for AEE and 3% for JE).

Unable to bear the harassment, the contractor approached Odisha Vigilance. After verification, a trap was laid, and both officials were caught red-handed while accepting the bribe. The entire tainted amount of ₹60,000 was recovered from their possession.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are being conducted at two locations linked to AEE Shri Singh and three locations linked to JE Shri Mohanty from the angle of disproportionate assets.

In this connection, Balasore Vigilance Police Station Case No. 1/2026 has been registered against both officials under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Further details will be shared later.

ଆଜି ଓଡ଼ିଶା ଭିଜିଲାନ୍ସ ପକ୍ଷରୁ ମୟୂରଭଞ୍ଜ ଜିଲ୍ଲା ଉଡ଼ଳା ଉପ-ଖଣ୍ଡ ଅଧୀନସ୍ଥ ଓଡ଼ିଶା ଲିଫ୍ଟ ଇରିଗେସନ କର୍ପୋରେସନ (OLIC)ର ଦୁଇ ଜଣ ଅଧିକାରୀଙ୍କୁ ଘୁଷ ନେବା ସମୟରେ ଧରାଯାଇଛି।

ଧରାପଡ଼ିଥିବା ଅଧିକାରୀମାନେ ହେଲେ ସହକାରୀ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟନିର୍ବାହୀ ଯନ୍ତ୍ରୀ (AEE) ଶ୍ରୀ ହରେକୃଷ୍ଣ ସିଂହ ଓ କନିଷ୍ଠ ଯନ୍ତ୍ରୀ (JE) ଶ୍ରୀ ସୁବ୍ରତ ମହାନ୍ତି (ବାରିପଦା JE, ଉଡ଼ଳା I/c JE)। ଠିକାଦାରଙ୍କ ବକାୟା ବିଲ୍ ମୁକ୍ତ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଦାବି କରାଯାଇଥିବା ଘୁଷର ଅଂଶ ଭାବେ ୬୦,୦୦୦ ଟଙ୍କା ଗ୍ରହଣ କରୁଥିବା ସମୟରେ ଉଭୟଙ୍କୁ ଧରାଯାଇଛି। ଏଥିରେ AEEଙ୍କ ଅଂଶ ୩୨,୦୦୦ ଟଙ୍କା ଓ JEଙ୍କ ଅଂଶ ୨୮,୦୦୦ ଟଙ୍କା ଥିଲା।

ଭିଜିଲାନ୍ସ ସୂତ୍ର ଅନୁସାରେ, ଠିକାଦାର ପ୍ରାୟ ୨୫ ଲକ୍ଷ ଟଙ୍କାର କାମ ସମାପ୍ତ କରିଥିଲେ ମଧ୍ୟ ପ୍ରାୟ ୫ ଲକ୍ଷ ଟଙ୍କାର ବିଲ୍ ଓ ସିକ୍ୟୁରିଟି ଡିପୋଜିଟ୍ ଅଟକାଇ ରଖାଯାଇଥିଲା। ବିଲ୍ ମୁକ୍ତି ପାଇଁ ୪.୫% ହାରରେ (AEE – ୧.୫% ଓ JE – ୩%) ମୋଟ ୧.୧୦ ଲକ୍ଷ ଟଙ୍କା ଘୁଷ ଦାବି କରାଯାଇଥିଲା।

ହେନସ୍ତାରେ ପଡ଼ି ଠିକାଦାର ଓଡ଼ିଶା ଭିଜିଲାନ୍ସଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ଅଭିଯୋଗ କରିଥିଲେ। ଯାଞ୍ଚ ପରେ ଟ୍ରାପ୍ ଲଗାଇ ଆଜି ଉଭୟ ଅଧିକାରୀଙ୍କୁ ଘୁଷ ନେବା ସମୟରେ ଧରାଯାଇଛି। ଦୁଷିତ ଘୁଷ ରାଶି ୬୦,୦୦୦ ଟଙ୍କା ସମ୍ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ଭାବେ ଜବତ କରାଯାଇଛି।

ଟ୍ରାପ୍ ପରେ ଅନୁପାତହୀନ ସମ୍ପତ୍ତି (DA) ଦୃଷ୍ଟିକୋଣରୁ AEE ଶ୍ରୀ ସିଂହଙ୍କ ୨ଟି ଏବଂ JE ଶ୍ରୀ ମହାନ୍ତିଙ୍କ ୩ଟି ସ୍ଥାନରେ ସମୟକାଳୀନ ତଲାଶୀ ଚାଲିଛି।

ଏହି ସମ୍ପର୍କରେ ବାଲେଶ୍ୱର ଭିଜିଲାନ୍ସ ଥାନା କେସ୍ ନଂ–୧/୨୦୨୬, ଧାରା ୭, ଦୁର୍ନୀତି ନିରୋଧ ଆଇନ (ସଂଶୋଧନ) ୨୦୧୮ ଅନୁସାରେ ଉଭୟ ଅଭିଯୁକ୍ତଙ୍କ ବିରୋଧରେ ମାମଲା ରୁଜୁ କରାଯାଇଛି। ବିସ୍ତୃତ ତଥ୍ୟ ପରେ ଜାରି କରାଯିବ।
