How one lonely deer turns into a deer party

Описание: Once upon a time, a lonely limping deer showed up on the farm... Regularly... She showed up so often that we thought about naming her. She didn't hang around much but she passed through often enough for us to take notice.

Sometimes while eating breakfast I got an odd feeling I was being watched, and sure enough, there was a deer outside the house looking in our front door from the yard and watching me eat... Just curious I guess. She never made a pest of herself. The cats didn't know what to think of her, other than to stay out of her way...

It became a regular “thing”. And our new normal morning routine. So we setup the trail cams again. Just to see what we could capture.

We wanted to encourage her to hang around so we looked on Amazon and found a relatively cheap 5 gallon bucket timed feeder and a big heavy tripod mount to hang it from. A quick trip to Lowes and we had the 1 1/4” pipes and end caps we needed for the legs. Another quick trip by Tractor Supply and we brought home a salt lick formulated to attract deer and several bags of deer corn. We figured a little bit of bait would keep her coming around so we could get some late night video of our regular visitor.

And sure enough, in just a few days we went from having no deer at all on the trail cams in years, to one deer on a regular basis and then a day or two later we have a late night deer party!

It's a bit of joy to watch them and capture them on video. After not seeing any for so many years, and now seeing them on a regular basis, I feel like giving them a safe place to hang out and drop their fawns...
