Following negotiations to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), the UK has signed the Protocol of Accession on 16 July 2023 paving the way for the UK’s entry into a free trade bloc made up of 11 nations spanning the Pacific Ocean. What does the UK’s membership of the CPTPP mean for the region and for the UK itself: is it a fundamental part of the UK’s Indo-Pacific tilt or is it a superficial win for post-Brexit Britain? A panel of experts will discuss the implications of the UK’s membership of the CPTPP.
