Titles read: "ADVANCE AUSTRALIA - Celebrations in Sydney of 150th Anniversary".
Sydney, Australia.
Various shots of warships in Sydney Harbour. RAF seaplanes arrive from Britain and land on the water. Captain Philip's sailing ship 'The Supply' (replica?) is seen in the harbour. On the waterfront we see men in 17th century costume reconstruction the moment when the Captain Philip and the first white men set foot in Australia. A Union Jack flag is hoisted and a man makes a short speech calling a toast to the success of the new colony. Guns are fired and the men cheer.
Crowds of people stand watching. In the city streets of Sydney we see several decorated floats moving along in a procession illustrating the history of Australia. Aborigines sit on one float, another shows white settlers, and another pays tribute to the first Australian post office.
Note: several sections of visuals are missing; soundtrack continues throughout.
