1. Do not use the wire-twist method when using the anti-skating device. Make sure that the lemo wire is not twisted and unnecessarily acting on the tonearm. In the video, note that the lemo wire has the Gary Koh "kink"; this is not necessary. Also note that the stylus cover is on for demonstration purposes only - it should be off when adjusting for real.
2. Install the fishing line onto the anti-skate device such that the fishing line is as close as can be to the fulcrum (e.g., center) of the anti-stake device. Also, for proper effect, ensure that the 2 metal arms of the anti-skate device rotate exactly in-line with the direction that the fishing line is pulling (see video at 19 sec onward).
3. Use as few rubber donuts as possible on the anti-skate device (in the video, only 1 donut is used to secure the fishing line closest to the fulcrum). Later (see step 7), if you need more anti-skating effect, you may need to add rubber donuts or heavier brass/copper washers to one and/or both arms of the anti-stake device.
4. When the cartridge is in the lead-in groove, the 2 metal arms of the anti-skate device should look like the hands of a clock reading about 8:30. In the video, if you look carefully, you can see that the bottom of the 2 metal arms is resting on the junction box so that there is no tension on the fishing line when the tonearm is just about at the lead-in groove.
5. As the cartridge is moves to the lead-out groove, the 2 metal arms of the anti-skate device should look like the hands of a clock moving to read about 9:00. You typically want the 2 metal arms to read about 9:00 at the lead-out groove (and not go past 9:00 at the lead-out groove) because that is when the anti-staking force being exerted by the device is the highest. It is ok if the 2 metal arms read less than 9:00 when the tonearm is in the lead-out groove.
6. If the anti-skate device does go passed 9:00 when your cartridge is in the lead-out groove, you will need to adjust the length of the fishing line (I've had to do this on a few occasions for this reason and for the fishing line to clear the VTA tower). Typically, 0.2mm or 0.3mm fishing line will work.
7. Once the anti-skate device is properly set up as above, use the SoundSmith method to confirm whether additional donuts are needed (https://www.sound-smith.com/faq/how-d.... Or you may find that your particular cartridge does not need the anti-stake device at all.
