Hello everyone! one of my favorite treats is banh tieu - a delicious sightly crispy and chewy hallow donut. My mom use to buy this for me when I was younger. It is pretty simple and fun to make. Enjoy!
Recipe
• 400 grams bread flour
• 230 ml warm water (110F)
• 7 grams or 1 packet of standard active yeast
• 4 grams baking powder
• 6 grams salt
• 65 grams sugar
• 10 ml oil
Add 15 grams of sugar into warm water & mix. Add in the yeast and allow to foam for about 15 minutes.
In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, salt, and 50 grams of sugar.
Add in the yeast to the flour and mix. Add in the oil. In a stand mixer, mix on med speed for 4 minutes. Then, mix on high for an additional 4 minutes.
Place dough into a grease bowl and allow to rise for 2 hours.
Divide dough into 24 rounds. Roll in sesame seeds. Set aside for an additional 45 minutes.
Roll out each dough until flat. Fry in oil for 30 seconds while constantly flipping the dough. Serve warm 🤍
