Magnet School Assistance Program (MSAP) magnet schools offer hands-on learning experiences that expose students to new careers and innovative ways of thinking. However, there's one major challenge—if students aren’t showing up to school, they’re missing out on these unique opportunities.
Dr. ReGina Etter, director of MSAP magnet schools and a champion of engaging professional development, realized that attendance could be made "cool." After an attendance lesson with students, inspiration struck—why not use music to grab their attention? That’s when the original Attendance Matters song was born. With the help of local artist Mr. Chris, the powerful vocals of Wright Global Media & Mass Communications Magnet Middle students, and the on-trend dance moves from Creswell Middle Magnet School of the Visual & Performing Arts, the Attendance Matters song and music video came to life.
