Today, our very own Blue Star Nutraceuticals Pro Trainer and Mixed Martial Artist Joel Paquette is going to run you through a full body MMA Combat Conditioning Workout.

So leave the fanny pack at home - and let’s go kick some ass!

Warm-Up:
Before we jump into the high intensity drills, it’s important to make sure your muscles and joints are warmed up dynamically and mobilized to avoid injury.

We’re going to perform 10 sets of bear walks and broad jumps to get the whole body ready to work. Get down on your hands and feet, bear walk about 25 feet, then perform broad jumps all the way back. Start off slow as your shoulders, knees and hips get warmed up - and then start getting explosive as you get close to the end.

Now it’s time to get the real workout underway!

This workout will consist of 6 exercises performed in a linear circuit fashion.

You will perform each exercise for 60 seconds - resting 30 seconds between exercises.

If you’re not tired between exercises - then push yourself harder.

Once all 6 exercises are complete - take 2 minutes to rest and rehydrate with AminoFast.

Then you’re going to repeat the circuit for a total of 3 rounds - making the complete workout just over half an hour long.

This is a great finisher to add in at the end of your resistance training 2-3 times a week.

Timer ready? Let’s get to it!

Exercise #1 - 1-2 Sprawls
With these, you’re just throwing a quick 1-2 combo and right into a full body sprawl. You want speed and agility here, sprawl hard, then right back to your feet and into those punches again!

Exercise #2 - Single Leg Plyo Box Jumps
In fighting you find yourself on one leg in a lot of situations so it’s important to develop the unilateral strength, stability as well as balance. Again focus on speed and explosiveness here - perform 5 reps with one leg then switch to the other.

Exercise #3: Farmer’s Walks
If there’s one exercise every man should do - it’s the farmers walk. Because picking a weight up off the ground is great - but if you can’t move it anywhere, then what’s the point. Grip the handles a little further back from mid-point, use deadlift form to get them up - and then walk as fast as possible. When you need to turn, make sure to turn your outside arm in so that the weight gets locked behind the inside one. This will help keep the weights from getting out of control on a turn. If you don’t have farmers walk handles - use dumbbells.

Exercise #4: Battle Ropes
Grab the ropes, squat down and throw those ropes as hard as possible using your core and moving your whole body - don’t rely on just using your arms. Mix up the movement patterns as you become more advanced. We’ve got a battle rope tutorial video already up that we’ll link to at the end of this video that will teach you some different movements.

Exercise #5: Sled Pushes
Next, go over and load up a sled with 75% of your body weight in plates - then start pushing it down the turf and back - keeping your core braced and driving with power from your legs.

Exercise #6: Sled Pulls
To finish it off - wrap a battle rope around the sled handles and pull the sled towards you as explosively as possible. Try to engage your lats, hamstrings and glutes. Keep the pace up here and finish this off with intensity!
