To estimate the density of irregularly shaped rock, we should measure the rock's mass and volume. To measure the volume, the rock should be placed in water, and a change in the volume of water can be used as the volume of the rock. In this experiment, the mass of the rock was 294.4 g, and the initial volume of water (without the rock) was 360 ml, while with the rock inside, the volume increased to 465 ml. The difference in the volume (105 ml) was used as the volume of rock (105 cm3).
