PAINTING PORTRAITS WITHOUT A REFERENCE (with voiceover!)

Описание: I’m finally getting used to hearing my voice and I think I’m getting past the learning curve a bit, but wow, making this video was rough. Let’s just say there’s a reason I’m a visual artist and not a speaker :) Lost the project twice right before being finished, once due to the program crashing and once due to me accidentally deleting the files (oops) then just forcing myself to listen to my own voice for hours on end was terrible. Losing the files may have actually saved you all from hearing my first couple runs of horrible voiceover though :D

The contrast of the amount I enjoyed myself during the first painting vs. the second is wild. The first took hours and I ended up frustrated and bored, but the second was just so fun! I definitely recommend trying to paint without a reference once in a while just to see what you can do and to play around without any expectations of what it should look like.

Gamsol (Mineral Spirits)
Gamblin Stand Oil
Gamblin oil paint - Ivory Black, Titanium White, Burnt Umber, Cadmium Red Light, Alizarin Crimson, Transparent Red Oxide, Yellow Ochre, Indian Yellow

Brushes:
Princeton Velvetouch Stroke – 1/4" (Flat brush I was talking about in the video)
Princeton Select Dagger Striper - 1/4" (what I referred to as the "sad liner" that I used for the hair in the first painting - I meant striper)
Princeton Select Chisel Blender - size 10
Princeton Select Round Petite - size 20/0
Princeton Imperial Round - size 4
Princeton Kolinsky Sable Round -size 4
