The Lachlan Valley Railway (LVR) society was formed in 1974, taking over the Cowra Loco Depot in 1977 and operating tourist trains within the region utilising procured vintage engines and rolling stock.
On a Weekend in November 1995, we have extensive video coverage on SONY HOME HANDY CAM of the society's 5367 steam engine and classic corridor style passenger cars on weekend shuttle services.
This video is dedicated to the late Bill (William) Cox.
Bill was a railway modeller and photographer whom I met photographing the Sydney Express at Revesby on weekend mornings in the early 1990s.
Bill's modelling interest was NSW. He had a keen eye to detail, modelling locos and traffic which were not readily available, items such as CPH1 rail motor he converted from a open end car, of which he won an award in the 1993 AMRA modelling competing at the Whitlam centre Sydney. In the following years Bill won runner up awards for a Northern Rivers Rail liveried Lloyds 421 class and open tarpaulin wagons as seen on standard 1980s freight trains. Unfortunately I don't have the pictures to share.
Bill was also a member of the AMRA model railway club and invited me along to this weekend away with club members to experience The Lachlan Valley Railway (LVR) Society, is an Australian rail preservation society based in the New South Wales Central Western town of Cowra.
My dear friend Bill passed away in Brisbane, on January 17 2023.
In memory of a good friend; a gentle, smiling human being.
