Описание: SPERA Humanoid Prototype One is the first full human-scale bipedal humanoid robot developed in South Asia, purpose-built for security and defence applications and designed and engineered from the ground up in Sri Lanka.

The AI-enabled platform integrates high-torque electric actuation, bipedal locomotion, dexterous manipulation, 3D perception, onboard computing, physical human-robot interaction and long-range direct RF teleoperation. Prototype One establishes the engineering foundation of the SPERA Humanoid programme for security, defence, critical infrastructure and demanding applications.

BIPEDAL LOCOMOTION & ACTUATION

Core motion modules deliver up to 200 Nm peak torque. Each leg provides 6 degrees of freedom across the pelvis, hip, knee and ankle, supporting forward/backward walking, lateral movement, turning, posture control and coordinated whole-body motion.

A 9-axis IMU with joint-level torque and encoder data provides proprioceptive feedback for body-state estimation and balance control. Development continues across dynamic balance, gait optimisation, disturbance rejection and natural locomotion.

MECHANICAL ARCHITECTURE & MANIPULATION

The modular human-scale architecture integrates actuation, structure, electronics, sensing, power and computing around articulation, load transfer, weight distribution and centre-of-mass management.

Each arm provides 7 degrees of freedom across the shoulder, elbow and wrist. Two articulated five-finger robotic hands, each with 6 degrees of freedom, provide approximately 50 kg grip force with tactile and force sensing. Motion-controlled manipulation and full-body teleoperation translate operator movement into robotic action.

3D PERCEPTION & SENSING

A 3D LiDAR provides 360-degree coverage and sensing up to approximately 40 metres. An RGB-D stereo depth camera adds visual and depth data for perception, mapping and navigation. Together, these systems support spatial awareness, localisation, identification, navigation and security-related situational awareness.

SPERA COGNITIVE FUSION ARCHITECTURE (HUMAN + AI)

SPERA Cognitive Fusion Architecture combines onboard AI with human oversight rather than automating critical decisions outright. AI assists with perception, identification, environmental understanding, communication and security analysis, while human operators remain in the loop where judgment, context and accountability are required.

Onboard AI can process perception data to detect and classify dynamic and static subjects of interest, identify relevant people, objects or events and provide situational awareness to the operator. Human judgment and machine intelligence therefore work together within one physical robotic platform.

SPERA is also developing greater autonomy, including multimodal perception, autonomous navigation, contextual reasoning, task planning and autonomous physical interaction.

COMMUNICATION & TELEOPERATION

SPERA Humanoid supports direct RF teleoperation at line-of-sight distances up to 35 km over a dedicated encrypted RF network, independent of public internet, Wi-Fi or cellular infrastructure, for resilient command and control in remote or limited-connectivity environments.

For indoor and GPS-denied settings, a dedicated local network with server-based indoor localisation supports positioning where satellite signals are unavailable. A mesh architecture links operators, humanoid units and the central server for coordinated multi-unit operation, data relay and centralised monitoring.

Combined with onboard AI and perception, the humanoid can act as an intelligent physical extension of a remote operator while critical decisions remain under human oversight. RF and network performance vary with terrain, line of sight, interference, obstruction and operating conditions.

POWER, COMPUTING & CONTROL

Prototype One uses an integrated 46.8 V, 10 Ah, 468 Wh battery system capable of 80 A continuous output. Onboard computing handles real-time robotic control, sensor processing, communications, perception and AI workloads, integrating joint systems, IMU, 3D LiDAR, RGB-D vision, operator commands and AI systems.

BUILT FOR HUMAN ENVIRONMENTS

The humanoid form enables operation within infrastructure designed around people, including doors, corridors, stairs, tools and workspaces. SPERA is initially focused on security, defence and critical infrastructure, including remote, demanding and hazardous environments where robots can extend human presence and capability.
