The Rise of Danie van Schalkwyk: Blue Bull Prodigy

Описание: Danie van Schalkwyk was one of those school boy prodigies in South Africa. He made a big name for himself in Kempton Park before moving to Waterkloof in his matric year and representing Northern Transvaal at the Craven Week.

He was fast tracked into the Northern Transvaal senior side and made his debut in 1995 alongside Andre Snyman. This new centre paring for the Bulls had the country buzzing and Danie was known for his distribution skills and strong tackling, although he could also break the line.

He became a Springbok in 1996, but his Springbok career never took off as expected due to injuries and some indifferent form in 1997 against the Lions.

In 1998 he was back at his best for the Blue Bulls, helping them to Currie Cup glory.

He also later played for the Lions and the Cats.
