BHS Children Story-time Session

The BHS Children’s Storytime program offers a variety of fun and engaging activities for youth, including poetry, short stories, art, history, sewing, and crafts. Kids will learn about the life, legacy, and times of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., as well as the works of other African American authors, and have opportunities to create their own poems and stories inspired by what they’ve learned. The program aims to help young people build a stronger sense of self-love, love for others, an appreciation for history, and a drive for excellence. It also highlights the importance of voting, believing that introducing democratic principles early helps kids better understand themselves and their communities. Children are invited to us on Fridays and Saturdays for a few hours to enjoy a meaningful experience learning about the MLK Jr. Coloring Book and creating a small pillow, for a suggested donation of $30 or more. In addition, monthly support allows participants to select a new children’s book by a Black author or Black History from our collection. To register youth ages 7–16, please call 281-405-0006.
