What is Push?
Many production processes are built with push systems. The order, material or information is pushed from department to department. No one asks whether the next department is ready to accept the work and the Flow of the product or service is not taken into account.
●   Department A makes something and pushes this to Department B, without taking anything into account.
 
What is Pull?
For a Pull system, the entire Flow of production is geared to one another. The process then starts at the end (at the delivery of the product to the customer) and every previous department then pulls the product towards themselves.
●   By working from the end of the line (Downstream) back to the beginning of the line (Upstream), you prevent the first workstations from overproducing.
