Episode 984

Cyril (William Moore) is recovering at Weatherfield Infirmary after the fight. Albert (Jack Howarth) advises Bernard (Gorden Kaye) to be honest with Irma (Sandra Gough) about how he feels. The Ogdens get ready for tea, with Hilda (Jean Alexander) unsure what to serve Dave (Reginald Marsh). When Dave arrives, he takes them out for a meal instead. Susan Barlow (Wendy Jane Walker) complains of stomach pains, so Val (Anne Reid) takes her to the doctor. Dr. Crawford (Neil Wilson) reassures Val it’s just a minor bug. Bernard tells Irma he has secured a job near his mother’s home in Saddleworth but won’t go if she gives him a reason to stay in Weatherfield. He is left heartbroken when Irma rejects him. At the restaurant, Dave entertains the Ogdens and orders champagne. Irma is furious when Hilda drinks too much and blurts out that Dave owns the deeds to No.13. With nothing left for him in Weatherfield, Bernard quietly leaves the street. Susan’s stomach pains worsen, and Val grows more anxious as she struggles to settle her daughter.
