Pakistan Court Upholds Death Sentences For Men Who Gang-Raped French Tourist In Front Of Her Kids

Описание: Pakistan's Lahore High Court has upheld the death sentences of two men convicted of gang-raping a French tourist in front of her three children on a motorway near Lahore. The harrowing attack took place in September 2020 when the woman's car ran out of fuel on the Sialkot-Lahore Motorway late at night. Attackers smashed her car window, dragged her out and raped her at gunpoint while robbing the family of cash, jewellery and bank cards. Investigators cracked the case using mobile phone data and DNA evidence within days. An anti-terrorism court convicted Abid Ali and Shafqat Ali in 2021. The case sparked national outrage — intensified when the Lahore police chief suggested the woman should not have been travelling at night. Justice, six years later, has finally been upheld.
