A Phase Locked Loop (PLL) is a control system that forces an output oscillator to match the frequency and phase of an input signal. The phase detector compares the input with the VCO feedback and produces an error signal. After low-pass filtering and amplification, this voltage adjusts the VCO until both signals align. When locked, the output frequency tracks the input, enabling stable timing, frequency synthesis, and signal recovery in communication and digital systems.
