Hiking the Historic Mattawa River | Bear & Three Cubs, and Incredible Sky Phenomena

Описание: I recently got to spend two days in Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park, where I hiked the 9km History Loop, part of the park's Étienne Trail System, which loops around Long Lake, The Gut, and brings you along the rugged cliffs of the mighty Mattawa River.

While my plan had originally been to paddle the French River, plans got changed due to a number of unforeseen circumstances. I made the best of it and managed to get away for one night at Samuel de Champlain. It turned out to be a great experience! Not only was the hike enjoyable, it rewarded you with some amazing vistas across Long Lake, The Gut, and the Mattawa River on numerous occasions. Plus, there was no shortage of interesting flora to be found!

In honour of one of my favourite YouTube channels, I made naan and butter chicken, just like Jon from ‪@LostLakes‬ often does! I love Indian food, so this was a nice treat.

To add to the experience, I was treated to an amazing opportunity to film a family of black bears on my way home! Mama bear and three cubs let me watch them for over 30 minutes from the side of the Trans-Canada Highway. I've included some extended footage of the black bear family at the end of the video. And as though that wasn't enough, I witnessed two evening sky phenomena that I'd never seen before -- sun spotlights and a red rainbow!
