Like other Latin American countries, serious processes of violence have crossed Colombia: independence in the second decade of the 19th century, wars such as the supreme wars in the middle of the century or the war of a thousand days in 1899, and the internal conflict that begins in the middle of the 20th century, affecting the safety in Colombia. However, Colombia has taken huge steps in terms of security which has doubled the number of tourists who have visited the country since 2011. One of the main questions people ask us is, is Colombia dangerous? Is Colombia safe for tourists? Recently some embassies have issued a travel warning for Colombia, but in fact most of the country is safe to travel. Here we want to answer all these questions and tell you the reasons why fear cannot stop you from visiting this beautiful country.
