Snails aren't insects; they belong to a group of animals called mollusks, which are quite different from insects. Mollusks, specifically gastropods like snails, have a soft body generally protected by a hard shell and move using a muscular foot. They are known for their slow movement and for leaving a trail of mucus as they move.
Insects, on the other hand, are arthropods and have bodies divided into three parts: the head, thorax, and abdomen. They also have six legs, compound eyes, and usually two pairs of wings.
