Indian entrepreneur Abhijith Nag Balasubramanya has exited Sweden after alleging immigration hurdles forced him to sell his startup, Hydro Space Sweden AB. He arrived in May 2025 to boost northern Sweden’s food security through locally grown microgreens, creating jobs and launching operations within six months. But in February 2026, he announced his departure, accusing Sweden’s Migration Agency, Migrationsverket, of mishandling his permit case and shifting grounds for rejection. Calling it an “eviction, not an exit,” he cited severe emotional strain. The agency has not publicly responded, as Sweden tightens immigration rules ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections.
