"Well done, my good and faithful servant!" This statement has cried out from the pulpits of preachers for years as the final statement once you've "made it" that makes life worth living. If we can just hear this phrase we know we pleased the Father and we finally made it to heaven....
...right..?
THE PROBLEM IS we don't end with "Well done my good and faithful servant." We BEGIN with it!!
Because we aren't graded on our own report cards. We are graded on Jesus perfect incarnation and sacrifice.
When we are keeping score, tallying up all our good works, we are just running faster on the hamster wheel of religion. But Jesus came to declare the END of religion!
Religion will ruin you. Do you want to know why? Because religion kill romans. Religion is too busy counting the steps to the dance to ever get to enjoy it. But the beauty of the gospel is to just enjoy being led by the dance.
