We take on the 2025 Sail Mordi Regatta at Mordialloc Sailing Club on Port Phillip Bay, sailing my brother’s 12 foot skiff — one of Australia’s most insane and overpowered carbon fibre sailing dinghies. Against a mixed fleet of ILCAs, 29ers, Aeros, Sharpies, Finns, 125s, wingfoils and more, our 4 rigs, 3 masts, and outrageous downwind speed made us stand out slightly!

Day one was all about light wind sailing, patience, and legendary steamed dim sims. But day two? Pure chaos: a 20–25 knot winter northerly, rusty boat handling, and dodging other boats and windsurfers as we fought to survive. The highlight: absolutely terrifying downwind sailing that left us hanging on for dear life.
