This first Foundation Session is designed specifically for strikers receiving the ball with defensive pressure from behind; a key moment that often decides whether possession is secured, lost, or turned into a scoring action.

The session is built around realistic receiving scenarios, helping strikers develop the awareness, body positioning, and first touch required to protect the ball and play forward under pressure.

Session Structure
Stage 1 – Warm Up
The session begins with a structured warm-up to prepare the muscles for higher-intensity actions, while immediately introducing first-touch work. The quality of the first touch is a key focus and underpins everything that follows in the session.
Stage 2 – Receiving Under Pressure (Technique Focus)
This stage breaks down different techniques required when receiving with pressure from behind. Players are challenged to recognise contact, adjust their body shape, and execute the appropriate action. Each repetition finishes with a pass into a mini goal, reinforcing accuracy and decision-making.
Stage 3 – Match Realism (End Product)
The same receiving techniques are then applied in a more game-realistic context, finishing into a full-size goal. This stage connects the technical work directly to match outcomes, ensuring transfer from training to competition.
