FLÅM RAILWAY has been described as one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world and is one of the leading tourist attractions in Norway.
The train runs from the end of Aurlandsfjord, a tributary of the Sognefjord, up to the high mountains at Myrdal station. The journey features the finest aspects of the stunning scenery of Western Norway.

FLÅM LINE (also known as Flåmsbana in Norwegian) is a 20.2 km (12.6 mi) long railway line between Flåm and Myrdal in Aurland Municipality in Vestland county Norway. Construction of the line started in 1924, with the line opening in 1940.

Over the course of one hour, the train takes the passengers from sea level at Sognefjord in Flåm to Myrdal mountain station, situated at 867 meters above sea level. Myrdal is also a station on the Bergen Line, meaning the Flåm Railway connects with trains running between Bergen and Oslo.

Flåm Railway is one of the steepest standard gauge railway lines in the world, with 80% of the journey running on a gradient of 5.5%. The train runs through spectacular scenery, alongside the Rallar Road, vertiginous mountainsides, foaming waterfalls, through 20 tunnels, and offers so many viewpoints that, for many people, a single trip up and down is not enough.

The mighty KJOSFOSSEN FALLS is one of the many highlights on this route. The waterfall has a total fall of 93 meters and is only accessible by train. A mysterious woman with long hair and a red dress emerges from the forest, dancing to a Norwegian folk song next to the waterfall. She is the Huldra, an elusive forest spirit from Norse mythology. According to local folklore, she lures men into the woods to seduce them. The experience of witnessing this spectacular waterfall alongwith Huldra's dance is every bit as magical as the myth.

It is possible to experience Kjosfossen all year, which gives the traveler the opportunity to visit a roaring waterfall during summer and pass by a snow and ice-covered waterfall during winter.
