What questions should you ask your doctor before beginning chemotherapy? Dr. David Margileth says that there are two main factors you should question before beginning chemotherapy. The first is in regards to the benefit of the chemotherapy; why is this treatment beneficial to my specific case? The second is in relation to the toxicity of the chemotherapy. In some cases, where a patient has wanted to avoid hair loss but the benefit to the chemotherapy would be substantial, Dr. Margileth recommended adjusting the toxicity so that the treatment was in line with what the patient would both benefit from, and met her needs.
