Michael Straumietis, the Advanced Nutrients CEO decided to open this new, 18 000 square feet research facility in Bulgaria to service Europe’s need for high quality hydroponic nutrients. But what is the point in doing business in a country, especially as troubled as Bulgaria, if you don’t contribute to the society, the community and those who are really in need. And, believe it or not, this country needs a lot of help.
This is one of the reasons why in 2012 Big Mike decided to present the Holiday Heroes charity initiative in Bulgaria. Initially, his bold plan to introduce door-to-door charity to the country was met only with resistance, skepticism, even fear. He and his team at Advanced Nutrients Bulgaria had only 3 weeks to set up a Christmas campaign, which was supposed to reach and help thousands of needy Bulgarian families with children. And despite all the obstacles, all the negativism, all the disbelief, which has been long spoiling the atmosphere in this beautiful Eastern European country, they managed to do what they planned.
Now, two years later, Holiday Heroes are preparing their fifth campaign for Christmas 2014. They are stronger than ever and are backed up by hundreds of supporters, volunteers, contributors, local businesses and celebrities. Not to mention their desire to help has reached over 12,000 troubled Bulgarian households. BigMike often says his biggest passion is to help people and what the Advanced Nutrients founder has been doing in Bulgaria for the past two years is just a tiny part of all the international charity initiatives he and his company are part of.
