Transitioning to net zero means certain geographies will need to import clean energy from renewable-rich regions. To transport and store renewable energy, it can be transformed into hydrogen.
Hydrogen can be transported in re-purposed natural gas pipelines as low-purity gas or blended at a low concentration with natural gas. At the point of use, hydrogen needs to be deblended from the natural gas and purified to fuel-cell grade or higher.
Linde’s HISELECT® powered by Evonik membranes are the ideal way to separate and accumulate hydrogen. Our HIPURE™ H2 pressure swing adsorption technology then purifies the hydrogen to the required quality. It also works with low-purity hydrogen from pipelines.
Purified hydrogen can be utilized as an industrial feedstock for plants, a low-carbon fuel for busses, trains and trucks, a reactant and energy source for refining, chemical production and green steelmaking.
