Описание: In 1999, I wrote a paper called `Real fish, real numbers, real jobs', which appeared in the Mathematical Intelligencer. In this video, I read this paper in full. It was meant as a somewhat humorous take on an important issue. The reception of this paper is also briefly discussed; I feel this raises some interesting additional issues about the attitude that modern mathematics has towards any kind of self-criticism.
