Another year at the Barbarian Challenge. We always love this race! This one was a little different because all of the rain in the weeks leading up to the race. The falls were really coming down, and we couldn't go in the water in front of the falls due to the current. So, for the first time, we had to go behind them, which is still a cool view, but not as cool as going under them.
There were also some river crossings with some super strong current downstream which made it a bit more adventurous.
Also, when going into the gorge, we took a longer route, going over the suspension bridge for the first time. I finished in 90 minutes, about 5 minutes faster than last year, with an extra quarter mile (I had a total of about 6 1/2 miles). Kudos to my wife, who hiked the course with our son on her back, only missing about a mile of the course because of the fast water crossings she couldn't do with him. She's amazing! Hopefully next year we will be able to go back through the falls!
