On May 11, 1998, India successfully carried out three nuclear underground nuclear tests in Pokhran, Rajasthan. A second test was conducted two days later. These tests were conducted under Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the then Prime Minister of India, and was called “Operation Shakti”.
