Before surgery, everyday tasks were painful for Heather. Only 48 years old, she was beginning to realize that she could not function without the help of her kids and also a cane. Her life didn't feel right, she wanted something better for herself.

Heather made a choice to have back surgery with Dr. Kutz. "The easiest part of surgery was believing in Dr. Kutz and knowing that he knew what he was doing, knowing that I was going to come out of that surgery having that faith in God knowing that I was going to be better."
Her journey made her realize that the one thing she was missing was the support from someones who has been in her shoes, that is why she is proud to be a PatientPartner mentor. Heather is his here to be that for others.
