This movie is a rockumentary, put together by the band's own money and meant for release in just a few movie theaters. It was intended to be an independent project. Paramount Pictures acquired the film and released it in theatres in 1988, then on video a year later. Michael Hamlyn was its producer while Joanou took on the job of directing. Sadly, they exceeded the budget while producing it. Paul Wasserman was responsible for the publicity of it.[7] The video amalgamates live footage along with studio excerpts and interviews of the band. This album is a blend between live recordings and new studio material. It showcases the band's continuing exploration of various American music genres and pays tribute to their musical inspirations..Jimmy Iovine was the producer of this record, which was made available in 1988.
The title, "Rattle and Hum," is taken from a lyric in the song "Bullet the Blue Sky," which is the fourth track on The Joshua Tree album. The image used for the album cover and movie poster shows Bono shining a spotlight on Edge as he plays. My interest in "Bullet the Blue Sky" was ignited when I saw a live performance of it featured on the movie and album., The infamous album cover we know and love was recreated in a studio through stills photography, snapped by the talented Anton Corbijn. If you happen to own a vinyl, it will also have etched on side one the phrase "We Love You A.L.K." Anne Louise Kelly was an integral part of the band's productions and she was honored with a secret dedication message of the group's subsequent album, Pop, written on a handful of CD copies.
