Project Ascension Survived Its Deal With Blizzard

Описание: Project Ascension has reached a confidential settlement with Blizzard. Ascension says its emulated World of Warcraft private-server realms are closing and its WoW-related material will be removed, while its brand, website, social channels, existing accounts, community, and launcher continue as the team moves toward its own original MMO.

I call this a practical precedent: a public business outcome other private-server developers can study. The Blizzard-dependent layer comes down while the independent brand, account system, launcher, audience relationship, and path toward original IP continue. The settlement creates no binding court rule for another private server, but it reveals a playbook.

Document 36 reports that Blizzard and four defendants reached a confidential settlement. In Document 37, Judge John W. Holcomb placed the lawsuit in inactive status, vacated every previous deadline, and ordered the parties to submit dismissal papers—or move to reopen the case—by October 1. If neither happens, the action will be deemed dismissed on October 2.

As of this upload, the public record contains no merits judgment, admission of liability, damages award, permanent injunction, or publicly disclosed order requiring Ascension to surrender its past earnings. Any confidential payment or financial concession remains unknown.
