These are the eleven meanings of the root दिवु from which this word Devi is derived.

शिवा | Shiva
The consort of Shiva. The auspicious One. Devi who has attained unison with Shiva while meditating upon Him came to be called Shiva. Shiva in Sanskrit is also called Shiva.

शांभवी | Shambhavi
Shambhu is Shiv because one can realize Him only with a tranquil mind. His feminine aspect is called Shambhavi. A mystic trance or mudra in which the Yogi is introvert even as his senses are apparently outwards.

शक्ति | Shakti
Shakti is the power of accomplishing some task. Shiva has five Shaktis viz. Action, Will, Knowledge, Chit Shakti and Para Shakti. The former three account for the process of creation, maintenance, and dissolution whereas the latter two belongs to the Yogins and is in perpetual unison with Parameshwara.

शंकर वल्लभ | Shankaravallabha
The beloved of Shankara is Vallabha. Shakti is Shankara Vallabha. The entire universe can be categorized as the experience, experiencer and the object of experience.

त्रिनयना | Trinayana
An adept Yogi has all these three perspectives. These three views are metaphorically called as the three eyes. One who has these three visions of the subject, object and their experience is called Trinayana or the three eyed one.

वक्वादिनी | Vagvadini
The source and regulator of all spoken, conceived and other forms of expression is called Vagvadini or simply Vak. She manifests in the form of four modes of speech viz.
1. Vaikhari - the audible word.
2. Madhyama - the word conceived in the empirical reason.
3. Pashyanti - the word conceived in the cosmic reason or mahat.
4. Para - perpetual unison with absolute Shiva.

भैरवी | Bhairavi
Bhairavi is the consort of Bhairava, the furious One. Bhairava or Bhairavi are called so because of their filling rejoicing and vomiting (भरण रमण वमन). These esoterically denote the process of creation maintenance and dissolution. Bhairavi incarnates in the form of a six year old girl.

ह्रीम्कारी | Hreemkari
Hreemkari is the most arcane syllable of Devi, this has been called as Devipranav and has great mystic secrets encrypted in it. The Vedas say that thus this monosyllabic eternal depiction of the absolute Brahmanis meditated upon the Yogins of immaculate essential purity. Such Yogins are the oceans of immerse metaphysical wisdom.

त्रिपुरा | Tripura
Tripura is a shortened form of Maha Tripura Sundari. The streamline of consciousness that pervades the three stares of waking, deeming and dreamless sleep. The intuitive awareness of the singular witness of all three states & stages of life is called Tripura.

परापरमयी | Paraparamayi
Para is the transcendental wisdom & Apara is the conventional traditional dialectic. She manifests in both the forms.

माता | Mata
Mother in Sanskrit. The witness of this universal phenomena as different from मेय and मानम्. The experience & the object of experience.

कुमारीत्यसि | Kumariitiasi
