In 2023 the Spencer Museum of Art commissioned writer A.D. Boynton II to write poems in response to works of art in the Museum's collection, resulting in the chapbook WITNESS. In this video Boynton reads his poems alongside the works of art that inspired him.
About the Author
A.D. Boynton II [he/they] is a Black queer Southern writer based in Lawrence, Kansas. They have written prose and essays for literary magazines, scholarly journals, and online publications on the intersections of race, gender, sexuality, and class. He is currently pursuing his doctorate in English at the University of Kansas, writing a dissertation on hauntings in the Black South and speculative fiction. They love to cook and to laugh.
