Harrisburg city council votes to pass bill limiting city resources in assisting ICE

Описание: The Harrisburg City Council voted 7-0 in favor of Bill 1- 2026, unanimously passing legislation that limits city officials from using city resources to assist with immigration enforcement, unless explicitly required by state or federal law.

The topic has been heavily debated since the legislation was first introduced earlier this month.

Protests against ICE raged outside Harrisburg city council chambers as members listened to over an hour of public comment.

"The point here, in fact, is our taxes should not be used nor our police force or any physical plant that is run by our local government to support US federal policies that aren’t welcome here,” Keith Bentz who lives in Harrisburg said.
