Описание: On our travels through the Netherlands last year. I did some research on the Atlantic wall structures in this country, and came across an unusual set of `gates` called a Walzkörpersperre. A Walzkörpersperre is a ‘door’ in an the Anti Tank wall. The Two huge concrete blocks were lowered by winches to seal off the entrance towards Festung
( Fortress) IJmuiden. Two tobruks are placed at either side of the Walzkörpersperre to protect the opening, in case of enemy attack. A bit further down the tank wall is a tank ditch, protected by an integrated Pillbox, Regelbau ( Standard Design ) 676. The Pillbox housed a PAK, (Panzer abwehr Kanone) Anti Tank Gun. There are two of these Walzkörpersperres left in existance. I have recently found the whereabouts the other pair of gates are. My intention was to go back this year to check out the other gates( 2020 ), however the pandemic put a stop to that one.
