Описание: Oluseun's interest is on the declining state of living in Nigeria due to lack of accountability and empathy in the Nigeria public sector.
He talked about how Nigeria was a spring of hope at the start of the 4th Republic and how it found progress as seen in the rising GDP per capita. Unfortunately, the GDP per capita has been on the decline and the Nigerian leadership has not shown enough effort to reverse the tide. The current pandemic should have been an opportunity to forge engagement with citizens and build trust with the people however, it expanded the gulf between government and its leaders with the unfortunate episode around the hoarding of relief materials in warehouses.
We all have seen a period that has challenged the world on a major front but public leaders can do better if they can seize the moment to build an atmosphere of mutual trust. Leaders need to use the current environment to rebuild trust and this can only be delivered in an environment of transparency, accountability, integrity and empathy.
Oluseun is the co-founder and Director of BudgIT, Nigeria's leading fiscal transparency group that uses creative design and technology to improve access to public budgets and related fiscal data.

Oluseun is a recipient of numerous awards including the Ashoka Fellowship, Future Africa Awards, Quartz Africa 30 Innovators Award, Aspen New Voices Fellowship, Archbishop Tutu Fellowship, Melvin Jones Fellowship and Stanford Draper Hill Summer Fellowship.

As a Knight Innovation Fellow, he worked with the International Center for Journalists/Gates Foundation on rethinking health journalism in Nigeria. He also sits on ONE Africa Policy Advisory Board and was named as one of the 100 most influential Africans by The Africa Report Magazine.

Oluseun is a 2019 Obama Foundation Scholar at Columbia University, a graduate of Engineering from the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. He also had Executive Education at Stanford University Graduate School of Business on Social Entrepreneurship.
