Ntate Motheolane Chakela, Ntate Koenyama Steven Chakela’s son, takes the viewer through the highs and lows of his father’s life in the BCP. From the pre-independence days through the turbulent 70’s as Secretary General and MP for Likhetlane. He also reflects how later in exile, his father who was based in Egypt and Zambia, actively sourced funds and study opportunities for Basotho students as he continued to keep the story of the BCP’s plight alive internationally.
A series of events would lead Ntate Chakela to accept amnesty and return to Lesotho. A move that was interpreted as hostile by a faction of the BCP.
Ntate KC Chakela would be assassinated on 5 July 1982. While his assassination was claimed by an LLA Militant, it remains blatant that this event was well choreographed and well resourced. 43 years later, viewers are still left to speculate as to where the buck of his permanent removal stops.
